There is no better time than the Winter / Spring to have your air conditioning system serviced in good time for the Summer months. Very often small problems spotted at the time of service stop them from becoming major and expensive problems later on.
We recommend at least an annual air conditioning system checkup / service and this should be done either on the birthday of you machine (or as close to the time as possible), or during the colder winter / spring times depending on your warranty..
By undertaking this program of maintenance, you would minimize the risk of expensive repairs later on. Also, the main advantage is that your system should function efficiently during the Summer months.
Also note that your warranty is at stake here. For your one year unconditional warranty
and 4 years extended warranty on the compressor to be valid you need to have your unit serviced through Exland at least once a year with proof of service as confirmation
Without regular maintenance an air conditioner looses about 5% of its original efficiency for each year of operation. This means that the 12 000 Btu unit that you bought just a few years ago may be functioning like a 9 000 Btu unit today! The good news is that you can recover most of that lost efficiency through regular maintenance. Studies show that with regular service a unit will maintain up to 95% of its original efficiency. This means that the cost of an annual service is recovered very quickly in savings on your monthly electric bill and reduced repair costs.
Please keep the following in mind during the rest of the year:
Ensure that the condensing unit which is located outside of your premises is not covered up or blocked in any way. The efficient operation of your system depends on the condenser unit drawing air into the system so that it can be cooled and expelled inside. If the condenser is blocked in any way it will not be able to pull through enough air from outside. An air conditioning unit needs to breathe the same as humans do.
Some useful advice: -
1. Check the filters to make sure they are not blocked. Clean them by washing under warm soapy water
2. After cleaning the filters, run the system to test so that if there are any faults or problems they can be dealt with in good time for the Summer months.
3. Check that you have set the thermostat to âcooling modeâ. Itâs amazing how many people forget to do this.
4. A thoroughly cleaned air conditioner will operate at maximum efficiency. Do not however, use a hose and water to try to clean the filters because there is a very serious risk of electrical shock and possible shorting of electrical components when they come into contact with water.
5. We would always recommend that you make use of our reliable staff members to service and maintain your prized system at least once a year!
All equipment, even the most reliable, needs routine maintenance. Complicated equipment like today's air conditioners benefit in many ways from annual service. They recover much of their lost efficiency, they are less likely to suffer a major break down, they have a longer life span, they increase your comfort, and they operate for less money
